Exceptional Vet Care for your Pets

Important Information re: COVID-19

With the covid delta variant spreading throughout greater Sydney, unfortunately we are having to enforce tighter restrictions. Bearing staff safety as well as client safety in mind, we are aiming to reduce as much contact as possible by not allowing clients to enter the clinic.

  • Appointments are essential – please ring ahead and book an appointment so we can reduce your exposure to other clients as much as possible.
  • Upon arrival at the clinic , please call our reception on (02) 4648 2450 to let us know you have arrived. A nurse will then come and collect your pet and ask a few questions. Our veterinary team will examine you pet inside and then call you whilst you remain in your car for a discussion. The nurse will then bring your pet back out to you in your once everything has been completed. Please wear a face mask whilst you are chatting to nurse and handing over your pet.

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during these difficult and uncertain times. Please be aware that we are only implementing these changes to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Narellan Animal Hospital - Signs of peridontal disease

Did you know that the majority of pets over four years old have some form of periodontal or gum disease? This disease is caused by plaque that builds up on the teeth and gums. Fortunately, preventative steps can be taken to help avoid dental disease.

Narellan Animal Hospital - Untreated dental disease in pets

There’s no doubt about it, dental disease in our pets really stinks! It is one of the most common problems we see in pets, affecting all ages and breeds. Prevention through regular check-ups is the best medicine, but if you have an older pet, you may feel concerned about them being put under anaesthesia during a dental check.

Narellan Animal Hospital - Why flat faced breeds need extra dental care
Do you have a flat-faced or brachycephalic pet?

Pugs, bulldogs, and Persian cats are all prone to dental issues due to their flat faces. Although the structure of their faces is different, they have the same number of teeth as other cats and dogs, which leads to overcrowding, causing injury and dental disease, due to trapped food.

Hospital of Excellence

In 1997 we applied for and received ASAVA (Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association) ‘Hospital of Excellence’ accredition. This award is reviewed every 3 to 4 years. To maintain accreditation as a Hospital of Excellence, our practice facilities and our work is examined by specialists in various fields of veterinary medicine and surgery. This allows us to judge and be judged that we are maintaining a very high standard of vet care for your pets.
